Since 2006 when the idea for a post-conference "aero-tour" was first floated, fuel prices have soared. The original goal was to charter one or more airplanes to fly from Burlington, Wisconsin, to Beaver Island, Michigan, on the morning of Sunday, September 28. Participants would eat lunch, tour the island by bus, eat dinner, and stay overnight in a hotel on the island before returning home the next day. While we had originally hoped to be able to price the aero-tour package at $500 or at most $600, the increase in fuel prices means that the trip would cost at least $900 or possibly more. Because the cost is prohibitively high, we have regretfully determined that we must shelve the proposal.
